Orange Julius

I know that summer is over and this is totally a summer recipe, but we made these orange juliuses with my family last week and I just had to share them with you! It's been really cold here lately {I'm so dreading wintertime. Boo.}, but this drink gives me all the more reason to cuddle up with my mister and drink our hearts out. It's insanely delicious too! Booyah.

I got this recipe in my 7th grade home economics class and I haven't found an orange julius recipe that could top it since. It's the perfect blend of creamy, sweet, and orangey. {Yep, that's a word.} I'm glad I learned at least one useful thing in that class...

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup frozen orange juice concentrate
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1-1/2 to 2 cups ice

Directions:
  1. Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Serve immediately or store in freezer.

Feel free to add some strawberries or another favorite fruit to spruce up the flavor {Although, it tastes perfect without it}. Hope you like it!

  6. Do you know if it's cheaper to make orange juice than to buy it? Because if it is I will buy oranges ASAP haha.

  10. I haven't had an orange julius for years... When I used to live in Edmonton and next to the famous West Edmonton Mall I would stop frequently to check out the mall as it was being developed and buy an orange julius. Thanks for sharing on Foodie Friends Friday and remember to come back and vote on Sunday.

  15. it sounds really good! in my opinion there if a drink is delicious there I don't consider it Summer or Winter drink! I like cold smoothies in cold Winter days or steaming hot chocolate pudding in a hot Summer Night. Maybe I am weird like that ;)

  26. i found the same recipe 2 days ago, made it for "brunch"!! oh man was it good! if u remember the orange julius stands, usually in the mall, you'll also remember that they were foamy too...add 1 egg white the the recipe above and u have ur foam. 1005 replica right in your kitchen.

p.s. i actually have found an actual Orange Julius Store about 20 minutes from my house. Cannot wait to go!!

  27. too funny, i found the same recipe 2 days ago. i added 1 egg white to mine though. it makes it kinda foamy/frothy. more like Orange Julius Stands used to make. either way, this recipe is awesome and you rock for puttin it out there for all to see!

p.s. saw and Orange Julius Store not to long ago, can't wait, i've been craving a strawberry julius for days now!!
