  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 & 1/3 cups butter I use salted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups milk chocolate chips I use Ghirardelli


  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Cream together the sugars and the butter until light and fluffy. Scrape the sides with a spatula, as needed.

  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, and mix well between additions. Scrape the sides with a spatula.

  4. Add the vanilla and mix well.

  5. In a medium bowl, combine the baking soda, salt, and flour.

  6. Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, 1/2 cup at a time, until it is fully incorporated and the dough begins to pull from the edges.

  7. Add chocolate chips and mix well.
  8. Drop by the spoonful onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
  9. Bake for 7-9 minutes. {They may not seem done because they are still really soft, but trust me - this is how you want them to be!}

  10. Transfer to a cooling rack and let cool completely. This will help everything to solidify and end up soft and chewy.
